To our valued patients:

As a chiropractic office, we understand and share our patients’ concerns about the spread of Coronavirus/COVID-19. On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 a pandemic, the first to be caused by coronavirus. The WHO director said hope remains that COVID-19 can be curtailed, if actions are taken to curtail the disease.

As the status of the outbreak is rapidly evolving, we want to let our patients know what steps we are taking to address the situation in the office now, as well as what we recommend for our patients outside of the office. This information is based on the most current updates from the World Health Organization, the State of Michigan, the Michigan Association of Chiropractors, and other official sources.

The office always follows standard protocols for cleaning, especially patient contact surfaces. We have always taken pride in having a clean, well-run office, and we know how important that is more than ever right now for you, your families and for our staff. All tables are disinfected and wiped down after each patient. All counter tops, door handles, and other surfaces are being wiped down as well multiple times a day, as cleaning is the best preventative measure we can take at this time. We will continue to monitor updated information and will maintain cleaning protocols as recommended by health care officials.

In addition to our cleaning procedures, we have a designated family adjusting room so that those that come in as families can have the space and limit the number of people in our lobby. With that being said, we also have a procedure in place to limit the number of people in the lobby to one or none by having all 4 adjusting rooms open at all visits so patients can go directly to their adjusting room/exam room and leave with having little to no contact with another patient.

We also share concern for our patients while they are out of the office. The CDC has recommended the following everyday preventive actions to keep yourself and your family healthy:

•Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
•Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
•Stay home when you are sick.
•Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. •Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
•Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
•Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.
•Stay informed. CDC’s COVID-19 Situation Summary will be updated regularly as information becomes available.

Here are some suggestions to make the best of this time:
1. Do your best not to live in fear or anxiety about the situation. Yes, it is a serious matter that requires our attention. However, it is important to note that when we get trapped in a fear response our immune systems shut down in favor of survival mechanisms, which actually further heighten our anxiety! Be wise and discerning about your lifestyle practices and choices, and trust you are doing what you can to keep yourself and your family safe.
2. Fresh air is vital to healthy immunity - make a point of getting outside, daily. Even as little as 10 to 15 minutes three times throughout the day will benefit you.
3. Rest! Get plenty of sleep and rest.
4. Take some time off, perhaps use this time for a personal at-home retreat where you just enjoy some time spent away from work, extra-curricular activities and the hustle and bustle of life. Walks in nature, healthy dinners together with your family, board games, curling up with a good book and limiting your social contact are all enriching ways to protect yourself from community transmission.
5. Increase your consumption of anti-oxidant and nutrient-dense infection-fighting foods like: organic blueberries, raspberries, spinach, sprouts, garlic, onions, ginger, parsley, cilantro, spirulina, celery juice, bone broth and fermented foods and beverages.
6. Drink lots of water. Drinking good quality water and herbal teas, staying hydrated, is one of the best things you can do to flush out toxins from your body and help support the immune system.
7. Keep your immune system strong by reducing your sugar intake and eating a balanced diet. Avoid eating processed sugars. Sugar weakens the immune system and makes it less able to deal with viruses and bacteria. Be sure to read food labels carefully and to limit the amount of sugar you eat.
